From import dependence to 70% domestic market leadership.
Rifat Aluminum Packaging Ltd. was founded in 2013 with a single purpose: to build a primary pharmaceutical packaging industry inside Bangladesh. At the time, the country's pharmaceutical manufacturers depended almost entirely on imported primary packaging. We built the country's first international-standard plant for it at Gazipur Industrial Zone — 150,000 sq ft, 6,000 tons of annual capacity and 90+ people — and have supplied the industry since 2014.
Today we lead the two formats that matter most to the sector. We hold roughly 70% domestic market share in Alu Alu Bottom Foil and 50% in PVDC Rigid Film — competing directly with well-established international suppliers on quality, consistency and price.
From that base we widened the portfolio to ALU Blister Foil (Top) and Aluminium Strip Foil, so a customer can source a complete primary packaging programme from one plant. Each addition had to meet the same pharmaceutical standard we started with — in this industry consistency is non-negotiable, and delivering it from Bangladesh, at scale, is the achievement we are most proud of.
